After the Cyclone
Once the cyclone has passed, do not go outside until local authorities have declared it safe to do so. Be aware of potential hazards such as downed power lines and avoid using electrical equipment until it has been checked for damage.
If your property has been damaged, it is important to ensure the following steps are taken as soon as possible:
- Take Photos and Record Details – Prior to cleaning up, take photos and/or videos of any damage to your property and contents ensuring to record serial numbers of any electronic devices.
- Make Safe – Ensure that any urgent repairs are carried out to keep your property secure and prevent further damage. Keep receipts for any emergency repairs as these may be reimbursable by your insurance company.
